information for Year 11 GCSE Fine Art
What's the plan?
- Your GCSE teacher assessed grades have now been submitted to school, so there is no need for you to be working on your art from this point onwards. The grades are largely based on the most up to date predicted grades we had, and reflect what we think you would have achieved in August if everything had continued as normal.
- More information about this process can be found on the AQA website here: https://www.aqa.org.uk/coronavirus/how-grades-will-be-awarded-without-exams - Please be assured that we will do everything possible to make sure your final grade is a fair one for you.
- You will still need to return all work to school in the coming weeks - at the moment we do not have a date but we will update you as soon as we know. It is vital that you keep your work safe and secure until this point. Please also keep checking your school email address for updates.
- Please keep in touch - you can email us if you have any questions about this or something else. If you like, you can send us photos of your work so we can see what you have been up to.

- Ms Barton - [email protected]
- You can also follow the art department on Twitter (if any of you actually have it!) - @TGGSart - for links to interesting things and updates.
- Please remember that often making art and being creative can be very good for you, can provide an escape from anxiety, and can also help you improve your own environment while you are stuck at home. You might be able to use the skills you have learnt in art to make gifts to (safely) pass on to others, or share your skills and knowledge with others in your household. Art is powerful and can bring people together when times are difficult.
- There are also plenty of free online tutorials at the moment available for you if you want to continue your learning, as well as a growing number of collaborative and community art projects that you could take part in - keep an eye on our twitter account for more info. This would be especially valuable if you are planning to continue with art next year.
- Keep safe, keep well, stay at home, and remember we are immensely proud of you for all of the hard work you have done over the past couple of years. None of that hard work was a waste of your time.
- Lastly, a final word from one of our favourite artists, Bob & Roberta Smith:
