Pick and Mix Mini Projects for Year 7 & 8
Architecture - Cardboard Buildings
Some of you will have already done this as a year 7 homework - if so you might want to have another go! Have a look at the examples here for ideas... Pencil Vs Camera Creative fun with pencil, paper and your phone. You can also use magazine photos for this. Google the artist Ben Heine and have a look at his website. Ben Heine 're-imagines' photographs by adding drawings of imaginary creatures or objects on top of the original image. He has been making art like this since 2010 and is has become his trademark style of artwork. what do you think of this way of working? Can you think of any other ways of achieving a similar effect? Now have a go at making your own!
Here's how to do it: 1. Choose something to photograph (a room in your house or view though a window), or find an already printed photo (a holiday snap or maybe something from a magazine/newspaper) 2. Think of a fun thing you could add to the image. A monster or creature? a crazy landscape? Make your sketch! It could be copied or from imagination, cartoony or realistic. 3. Take a photograph of your sketch on top of the photograph, as shown in the examples. Don't forget to email your work to us so we can pop it on the gallery page! Peg Challenge
Create a character from a clothes peg! Click on the link above for instructions... have fun! |
Slogans - Messages of Hope
If you have been outside of the home at all for a walk or to go to the shops, you might have spotted signs and slogans in the windows of houses showing support for the NHS and other keyworkers. You might have made a rainbow or something else to put in your own window. Your task is to create a message of hope for the future and safely display it somewhere where other people can see it. If you can, take a photo and email it to us for the gallery, or pop it on twitter and tag @TGGSart. Have a look at these inspiring examples: created by Luke Tonge for Birmingham Design Festival

Does that make a difference? Don't forget to send us your best ones...
Take a virtual guided tour of an art exhibition!
This link takes you to a video guided tour of a fantastic exhibition that was recently open at the Royal Academy in London at the moment - Picasso and Paper. Picasso was an incredibly famous and influential artist during the 20th Century, who used all sorts of materials and techniques in his art. This exhibition is about how he used paper. Have a look at the video (you could watch it with someone from home) and then have a go at making art out of paper - try making something 3D like a face or a person. Send us photos of what you do! |
